MNX Online joins UNE committee to define Spain’s data standards

A new chapter to keep contributing to the development of data spaces for a fairer, safer, and more accessible data economy from the Canary Islands.

MNX Online, based in the Fuerteventura Technology Park, has been selected as a voting member of Spain’s national CTN71/SC43 committee at UNE, the body responsible for defining national standards for data spaces. This milestone marks a significant step in our company’s journey and a new recognition of our work in digital innovation and the data economy.

What is UNE and what does it mean to join its committee?

UNE (Spanish Association for Standardization) is the organization responsible for establishing technical standards in Spain, ensuring interoperability, quality, and safety across various domains. The CTN71/SC43 committee focuses specifically on data spaces, digital environments that enable secure information sharing under trusted frameworks and common rules.

Being part of such working groups as a voting member means contributing to the drafting of the standards that will shape Spain’s digital future, in collaboration with public and private entities and experts from various sectors.

Bringing value through experience

MNX Online will participate in Working Group 1, dedicated to defining what a data space truly is and how to assess its level of maturity. This framework will be essential to ensure that innovative initiatives—whether from large corporations, public administrations, or startups—can operate based on shared principles of trust, interoperability, and fairness.

Our involvement in this committee builds on the experience we’ve accumulated over recent years in the field of the data economy, with a practical approach aligned with European values such as openness, scalability, and sustainability.

We bring proven expertise from international projects like the i4Trust initiative, where we developed solutions aimed at fostering smarter, more efficient and sustainable tourism, as well as better connected regions prepared to manage data responsibly.

“Being part of this committee is an opportunity to contribute—clearly and technically—to shaping a digital future that is fairer and more useful for all,” says Mannix Manglani, Director of MNX Online.

From local to global: more than just recognition

Our participation was made possible through CONETIC, the national confederation to which the Canarias Excelencia Tecnológica Cluster (CET) belongs. This collaborative structure has enabled our company to take part in key processes of digital governance in Spain.

With this step, we reinforce our commitment to a digital transformation that reflects the real needs of territories, their companies, and their public institutions. The standards being designed today will form the basis for future operations in key sectors like tourism, logistics, or port management.

Standardization is not just a technical exercise—it’s an opportunity to ensure that digital development is built on common, inclusive, and sustainable foundations. At MNX Online, we take on this challenge with responsibility and with the belief that shared knowledge and collaboration across diverse actors are essential to ensure that the data economy leaves no one behind.
