MNX Online and TOURiLab will participate as supporting partners and exhibitors at the FIWARE Global Summit 2026, taking place on 9 and 10 September in Menton (France), with MNX Online also joining the official speaker programme. Their participation will showcase the evolution of TOURiLab Data Space from its origins in tourism towards new sectoral use cases and present VISOR, the pilot developed in Fuerteventura within the framework of PHOENIX 4.0 together with the Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve.
Some events are an opportunity to showcase a project. Others allow you to see just how far it has evolved. For us, this year’s FIWARE Global Summit is very much about the latter.
On 8, 9 and 10 September, we will once again meet with the international FIWARE community, this time at the Palais de l’Europe in Menton, on the French Riviera, to discuss data spaces, digital twins, artificial intelligence, smart territories and interoperability. But we will arrive with a very different reality from that of our first Summits: projects already under way, new sectors emerging around TOURiLab Data Space and a use case with particularly strong ties to Fuerteventura that will also have its place there: VISOR.
This year, moreover, we will be taking part in a particularly significant way for us.
MNX Online and TOURiLab Data Space will participate as supporting partners of the FIWARE Global Summit 2026 and will also be present in the exhibition area. In addition, our CEO Mannix Manglani will be part of the official speaker programme. FIWARE Foundation has already publicly announced our participation both on the Summit website and through its own communication channels.
This will not be our first FIWARE Global Summit. Our relationship with this ecosystem goes back a long way and has accompanied much of the evolution of MNX Online and TOURiLab: from our recognition as a FIWARE iHub to our current work around data spaces and real-world use cases. Menton, however, comes at a different stage: with projects that are already moving from architecture and interoperability towards concrete use cases, and with TOURiLab Data Space growing beyond the field in which it was originally developed.
In addition, on 8 September we will take part in the Side Event · Training Day, a hands-on session covering everything from the fundamentals of NGSI-LD to the implementation of FIWARE-based data spaces.
From one sector to an ecosystem
On 10 September, Mannix Manglani Mankani, CEO of MNX Online and TOURiLab, will take part in the Making Data Spaces Happen track with the presentation “TOURiLab & VISOR: Putting a Tourism Data Space to work in Fuerteventura”.
TOURiLab and VISOR will allow us to bring something to Menton that is particularly important to us: the practical application of this technological journey through use cases capable of creating real value.
The presentation is already part of the Summit’s official agenda.
The title itself reflects an evolution we have been witnessing on the ground for months: TOURiLab Data Space was initially built around tourism, a particularly important sector for the Canary Islands and one in which we have been working for years with FIWARE technologies, interoperability and data models. However, as new participants join and new use cases emerge, the boundaries between sectors become much less clear.
A tourism company may need territorial data. A maritime activity may be linked to information about visitors, the coastline or sustainability. A sectoral observatory may combine information from different organisations. A public administration may need to understand environmental, economic and activity-related variables together.
And that is precisely where a data space begins to demonstrate its value.
Not as a large repository into which everyone deposits their information, nor as a platform intended to replace existing solutions, but as a trusted infrastructure that enables data, stakeholders and services to be connected under shared rules, while each organisation retains control over its own information.
In Menton, we will showcase this evolution through different experiences that are already part of the TOURiLab Data Space ecosystem: from tourism and business activity to the blue economy, the audiovisual sector and territorial management.
VISOR: from fragmented data to better territorial decision-making
This evolution will also have an example at the Summit that is particularly closely connected to Fuerteventura.
VISOR is one of the projects selected under PHOENIX 4.0 and addresses a challenge that will be familiar to almost any territory: we have access to more and more information, but that does not necessarily mean we can use it together.
Territorial, environmental and tourism data, as well as information related to visitor activity, may be distributed across different systems, formats and organisations.
VISOR works precisely on this fragmentation: selecting relevant information sources, making them interoperable and using them to build indicators that make it possible to analyse variables together that currently remain separate. The result will take the form of a dashboard designed to provide a better understanding of what is happening across the territory and support its management and resilience.
The pilot is being developed in Fuerteventura with the participation of the Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve, connecting the technological dimension with the real needs of an island territory.
FIWARE Foundation has also highlighted VISOR when publicly presenting MNX Online and TOURiLab as supporting partners of this edition, describing the project as a pilot that integrates territorial, environmental and tourism information and turns it into indicators that can support sustainable visitor management.
An ecosystem that is beginning to take shape
VISOR is just one of the pieces that help explain what is happening around TOURiLab Data Space.
The experience we will present provides an early glimpse of TOURiLab Data Space as something broader than a single vertical.
- Tourism. Where much of the work began and where participants and use cases linked to tourism and business activity are already in place.
- Blue economy. With companies involved in maritime activities such as Oby Group and new opportunities to combine information.
- Audiovisual sector. With the incorporation of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster, allowing us to explore how a common infrastructure can extend into fields very different from tourism.
- And now territory and resilience. With VISOR and the Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve.
This is not about claiming that all these sectors have the same needs. Quite the opposite.
What is interesting is seeing how, behind very different challenges, the same questions arise again and again: how to access distributed information, how to make it interoperable, how to establish trusted rules and how to turn data into services or decisions that create value.
That is the idea we want to showcase in Menton.
One territory. Different sectors. One common need: enabling data to work together under trusted rules.
Fuerteventura in an international conversation on data
Each year, the FIWARE Global Summit brings together companies, cities, public administrations, universities, technology centres and specialists developing and using open FIWARE technologies in projects around the world.
The Menton edition will once again combine experiences around data spaces, smart cities and territories, digital twins, artificial intelligence and other areas where interoperability is becoming an essential component of digital transformation.
From our headquarters at the Fuerteventura Technology Park, we have argued for years that being an island territory does not have to place us on the periphery of innovation. On the contrary, islands bring together many of the challenges that make technologies capable of connecting information, organisations and services particularly necessary.
Menton will be another opportunity to share this experience with the FIWARE community and demonstrate how projects developed in the Canary Islands can become part of the technological conversations currently taking place at European level.
Over the coming weeks, we will take a closer look at some of the use cases that will form part of our presentation and at what we are building around TOURiLab Data Space.
