Last Friday, January 30, we travelled to Gran Canaria to attend the first General Assembly of the year of the Canary Islands Technology Excellence Cluster (CET), held at INFECAR in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As usual, the day was an opportunity to review last year’s milestones, present new projects, welcome newly associated companies —we are now 135— and consolidate a shared roadmap to keep driving digital innovation across the archipelago.
However, this edition had an extra special component: the announcement of the new Board that will guide the cluster in this new stage. At MNX Online, we’re proud to take an active role in this new cycle, as our CEO, Mannix Manglani, has been appointed as a Board member of the new governing body.

Bringing a different perspective: innovation beyond the central axis
This appointment has added value for us. Not only because it reflects trust in our track record and technological vision, but also because —out of the thirteen Board members— we are the only company headquartered on a non-capital island.
In an ecosystem that often concentrates activity between Gran Canaria and Tenerife, bringing the perspective of Fuerteventura —and the rest of the outer islands— is an important step towards more balanced, diverse and territorially fair representation. Our role will not be symbolic: we want to help ensure that the cluster’s decisions, projects and opportunities also reflect the pace, challenges and capabilities of the wider archipelago, where high-level innovation is also taking place.
With our own voice, inside and outside
We have been participating as an associated company for years, and we have always seen innovation as something that is shared, listened to and built as a community. That is what we have been doing whenever we’ve had the chance to contribute from the outside —and what now excites us about contributing from the inside as well: strengthening and showcasing a Canary tech ecosystem that is growing, opening to the world, and becoming more strategic.
From our collaborative, hands-on approach, we bring a solid track record and a clear commitment to digital innovation:
- Three consecutive years in the APTE TOP100 Startups (2023–2025) and the SME of the Year Award 2024 (Las Palmas) in the Digitalisation & Innovation category.
- The first FIWARE iHub in the province of Las Palmas through TOURiLab.
- Promoters of TOURiLab Data Space, a flagship project within the RIS3 Canary Islands strategy.
- Active members of Gaia-X Hub Spain, the FIWARE Foundation, and working groups related to the UNE 0087:2025 standard and enabling technologies.

A tech community that keeps growing
During the Assembly, a general review of the past year was also shared: steady growth in the number of members (now 135 organisations), participation in strategic events, and new services designed to energise business collaboration, entrepreneurship and R&D&I in the Canary Islands. All of this is driven by a community that has shown that cooperation between companies is key to creating real opportunities.
For that reason, we want to thank the outgoing Board for their dedication and for the path that has brought us here. In particular, Oswaldo Brito, for his commitment and tireless effort to combine leading the cluster with professional and personal responsibilities. His dedication —together with the work of the management team and technical staff— has been essential for the real growth we can speak about today.

Committed to more connected innovation
We take on this new role with the same mindset that guides our day-to-day work: to contribute, share what we know, and help make innovation in the Canary Islands more open, more connected and more useful for the territory.
From MNX Online, we will continue pushing —from Fuerteventura and with a European outlook— for a cluster that is more connected, more diverse and stronger.
